#10: Wildcard

I have been speeding through assignments left and right tonight. Just as a humble brag, I have done five assignments tonight (After getting off work at nine), and this will be my sixth? Why in such a hurry you may ask? Well, I have a big procrastination problem. I always get my assignments done on time for the most part however.  What makes me procrastinate the most? I tend to be attached to my phone- and this show on Hulu called This is Us. In fact, I promised myself that I can totally binge watch the rest of the first season if I would just finish this pile of assignments I need to finish. Last night, I was washing the dishes when I knocked my beloved iPhone SE into the sink. While this phone was tough as a brick, it was no match for the soapy hot water that infiltrated it. Now it is literally a brick. Today I had to go spend two hours at Verizon. The store manager was an angel, and truly had the best customer service. I promise the two hour wait was not her fault. I ended gettin

#9: Classmate Critique

Since Professor Reppert says "Oh look a puppy" every time we have a dog in anything, I thought I would put some credit where credit is due. Here is a picture of my coauthor of this blog this morning: I  know a lot of people in this course. I have had the pleasure of getting to know them through the years as my peers and as my friends. There are a lot of new people in the class too, and despite what Professor Reppert might think, I do not believe that's a bad thing.  Recently, I have changed my major and switched my minor to Mass Media. Media is still something that I love, and I am so happy to see the program is growing because it is still something that is near and dear to my heart. Not only is it just growing with numbers it is growing with value. All of these new students are bringing fresh ideas to the table, and are going above and beyond with their research.   I get excited every year to do the classmate blog critique- not because I like grilling my peers. #8: International Media

Social Media Laws -  Ban on memes?  What is a meme? According to a quick wikipedia search, " A meme (/miːm/ MEEM[1][2][3]) is an idea, behavior, or style that spreads from person to person within a culture—often with the aim of conveying a particular phenomenon, theme, or meaning represented by the meme".  Why does it matter? You may not realize it, but memes are super important to our internet culture. Okay so I am a little ashamed that I just used the words "internet culture", but it is what it is. It is almost impossible to get on any social media without seeing one of these little buggers. They are hilarious, sometimes controversial, sometimes just dumb, and overall a great thing to have clogging up your phone memory.  What would happen if we no longer could post memes? The world as we know it would implode- okay maybe not. That's a little dramatic. A new EU copyright law may just be what brings on the armageddon of the internet. Net Neutral

#7: Social Media

Social Media is something that several hundreds of thousands of people use each day. Social media is often how many people get their news, connect with friends and family, and waste hours of time each day. In fact, I have wasted so much time on social media, I have set constraints on my phone so I become more actively involved in anything else other than the bright blue screen on my phone.  Social media quite frankly affects everything. It has a great influence on everything including the marketing of the food industry. Restaurants have to use social media to their advantage. Whether it is to increase publicity or just to stay relevant. One carefully placed bad review on social media can make or break a restaurant's reputation. "Simply monitoring tweets and tags about your brand and reacting to them quickly can help boost your social media standing and provide a better experience for your current or potential customers. According to the Greggs Annual Report 2017, the bran

#6: Critiquing a Critic

Mykie from Glam & Gore is a popular Youtube makeup artist. She has around 3.5 million subscribers. She is well known in the the youtube community for combining glam and gore (hence the name) looks on her channel. While she does not do specific reviews all the time, she does give her opinion in the videos she makes.   My favorite thing about her channel other than the fact that she is absolutely hilarious, that she goes through glam makeup basics ( 1 Minute Makeup Tutorial ), and gore makeup basics. She is also well known for speaking on current issues whether in the Youtube realm or otherwise. Examples are  What I Think of the Global Glitter Ban ,  We Need To Talk (About Austin Jones) , (another example goes here).  Since she is a make up artist she does do makeup reviews as well. One example of that is this video. She did a product review for Makeup Geek's eyeshadow and Kryloan's eye blood. She was brutally honest on the quality of these products while also keeping h

#5: Movies

I chose to pick a movie that I have never seen before me writing this. I did not get to experience this movie in theaters unfortunately, but through my Hulu subscription. This movie stood out to me because it is referenced in a song I like, and who can resist figure skating and scandal? I love watching figure skating at the olympics, and this movie game me a new perspective of that.  I, Tonya follows the rise and the fall of the figure skater Tonya Harding in the late 1980s and early1990's. Once incredibly famous for doing something no woman has done before, she has spiraled into infamy just as perfectly as her triple axel.  In a world where figure skaters are seen as poised and ethereal, Tonya was simply herself - a victim of her environment.  I, Tonya got amazing reviews from IMDB , Rotten Tomatoes , and Metacritic . The movie came out in 2017 and made 54 million at the box office. The movie stars Margot Robbie, Allison Janey, and Sebastian Stan among others.

#4: Technology

I currently use a Surface Pro 3 and I absolutely love it. However, I keep up with all of Microsoft's Surface products because I eventually would like to upgrade.  The newest Surface Pro is the Surface Pro 6 . It came out in September of 2018.  It is most definitely an upgrade. As much as I love my surface pro I still want a laptop as something a little more stable. Can I have the best of both worlds? This is what I believe that the Surface Book 2 or even the Surface Laptop  is.  While the two products seem to be very similar specs wise, the size of the laptop is bigger. Since I do not have either of these products I have to rely on other people's opinions on these products.  On Microsoft 's website, Surface Laptop 2 has a 3.8 review in general. The Microsoft Surface Pro 6  also has a 3.8 general review which is pretty high compared to the Surface book. These two products seem pretty much the same except that the Surface Laptop 2 has a clamshell base with t
