#6: Critiquing a Critic

Mykie from Glam & Gore is a popular Youtube makeup artist. She has around 3.5 million subscribers. She is well known in the the youtube community for combining glam and gore (hence the name) looks on her channel. While she does not do specific reviews all the time, she does give her opinion in the videos she makes.

My favorite thing about her channel other than the fact that she is absolutely hilarious, that she goes through glam makeup basics (1 Minute Makeup Tutorial), and gore makeup basics. She is also well known for speaking on current issues whether in the Youtube realm or otherwise. Examples are What I Think of the Global Glitter BanWe Need To Talk (About Austin Jones), (another example goes here).

Since she is a make up artist she does do makeup reviews as well. One example of that is this video. She did a product review for Makeup Geek's eyeshadow and Kryloan's eye blood. She was brutally honest on the quality of these products while also keeping her bubbly personality.

I mainly like seeing how she always keeps herself upbeat and carefree in all of her videos. She knows she is quirky and uses that to her advantage. She does a phenonmenal job at both sides of her career, and is willing to break down simple things for each side. She does simple tutorials for the "glam" side and beginner tutorials for the "gore" side as well.

She is very educational when it comes to her special effects makeup tutorials which is very important. Many people will not do things safely when it comes to special effects makeup, and that can harmful to potential viewers and ultimately themselves. She brings to light these issues and encourages her viewers to do things in a safe manner.

#3 - Lifestyle and Popular Culture

Have you ever seen someone actually shed tears immediately after walking into a store? This past weekend I went to a conference in Dallas, Texas. After the conference we went and did what any self respected women would do- go shopping. One of my friends was absolutely dying to go to the Galleria in Dallas for one reason and one reason alone- Morphe.  Morphe is a makeup brand created in 2008. They started with just make up brushes but expanded to different types of makeup. They are known for their quality and for being cost efficient. They still carry makeup brushes, tools, and different types of makeup for eyes, face, cheeks, and lips. Morphe is a brand that has been distributed online and through other stores such as Ulta. Very recently the brand has expanded to their own brick and mortar store. I got the opportunity to go to this store for the first time this weekend. As far as I know there is very few Morphe brand stores. The brick and mortar store in Texas has not ...

#10: Wildcard

I have been speeding through assignments left and right tonight. Just as a humble brag, I have done five assignments tonight (After getting off work at nine), and this will be my sixth? Why in such a hurry you may ask? Well, I have a big procrastination problem. I always get my assignments done on time for the most part however.  What makes me procrastinate the most? I tend to be attached to my phone- and this show on Hulu called This is Us. In fact, I promised myself that I can totally binge watch the rest of the first season if I would just finish this pile of assignments I need to finish. Last night, I was washing the dishes when I knocked my beloved iPhone SE into the sink. While this phone was tough as a brick, it was no match for the soapy hot water that infiltrated it. Now it is literally a brick. Today I had to go spend two hours at Verizon. The store manager was an angel, and truly had the best customer service. I promise the two hour wait was not her fault. I ended ge...

#7: Social Media

Social Media is something that several hundreds of thousands of people use each day. Social media is often how many people get their news, connect with friends and family, and waste hours of time each day. In fact, I have wasted so much time on social media, I have set constraints on my phone so I become more actively involved in anything else other than the bright blue screen on my phone.  Social media quite frankly affects everything. It has a great influence on everything including the marketing of the food industry. Restaurants have to use social media to their advantage. Whether it is to increase publicity or just to stay relevant. One carefully placed bad review on social media can make or break a restaurant's reputation. "Simply monitoring tweets and tags about your brand and reacting to them quickly can help boost your social media standing and provide a better experience for your current or potential customers. According to the Greggs Annual Report 2017, the bran...
